The Author
Mollie Kehl Penrod started writing at the age of nine and only slowed her literary efforts after college when she started a family. The working mother of four children slowly began to combine her experiences and imagination to write young adult novels. Finding only moments to write between caring for her family and working a full time job, Mollie emptied the nest with almost five novels in the vault. She holds a B.S in Biology and a MPA, and loves the History Channel. She enjoys mixing her love of science and history in her writing. Mollie lives with her husband in Lewisville, Texas.

My Thoughts
On Writing: Books are like holding an unknown world in your hand. It doesn’t matter if it is fiction or non-fiction – it either offers you information you didn’t know or an adventure you haven’t experienced.
On Maps: I’ve always been fascinated by maps – looking at them and wondering if I could drop down on a particular spot on the map – what would I see, who would I meet, what would I experience?
On Why I Wrote This Book: I wrote this book because two things I love are so much alike. Maps are like books because they can take you places you’ve never been.
